Hummer Takes Manhattan
Arnold Schwarzenegger, National Chairman,
Inner-City Games Foundation and New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani
Join HUMMER to Launch the H2 SUT and Announce HUMMER's $13 Million
Commitment to the Inner-City Games Foundation In an exclusive
ABC Studio premiere, the General Motors HUMMER H2 SUT (sport utility
truck) was introduced today in the heart of New York City by Ron
Zarrella, president of GM North America, with the help of special
guests Arnold Schwarzenegger and New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani.
Kicking off the New York Auto Show, the sunset orange HUMMER H2
SUT turned the heads of New Yorkers as Schwarzenegger, with Giuliani
by his side, drove down Broadway flanked by two jet black HUMMER
H1s. In a dramatic entrance, the H2 SUT turned off Broadway and
drove into ABC Studio amid crowds of onlookers to deliver both
the truck and its celebrities to the event.

The H2 SUT concept vehicle is an evolution
of the HUMMER H2. Introduced as a concept vehicle last year, the
H2 SUV (sports utility vehicle) is headed to production in 2002
as a 2003 model. Like the rest of the HUMMER family, the H2 SUT
concept vehicle provides a unique blend of functionality, capability
and luxury. The extreme proportions of the truck make it an unmistakable
member of the HUMMER family.
HUMMER also used this event as an opportunity to announce to the
Big Apple its sponsorship of the Inner-City Games Foundation (ICGF),
as a $13 million dollar check was presented to ICGF Chairman,
Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"We are very excited to have HUMMER involved with Inner-City
Games. Our organization is powerful proof of what the public and
private sectors can accomplish together. With partners like HUMMER,
we can continue to create opportunities and provide educational
and sports programs for underprivileged kids and teach values
such as discipline and sportsmanship," said Schwarzenegger
of the new partnership.

"The Inner-City Games and HUMMER both share a passion for excellence.
The fact that ICG helps kids strive for excellence and personal
achievement is something the HUMMER team is proud to support,"
said HUMMER Marketing Director Michael C. DiGiovanni.
The Inner-City Games was founded in 1991
in response to the growing number of young people living in poverty
and facing negative influences in cities across the country. The
Inner-City Games Foundation provides funding for summer programs
and year-round after school initiatives in 14 cities across the
country offering sports competitions, computer education and cultural
programs such as art and music. The ICG programs encourage children
to strive for both athletic and educational achievement.
General Motors and AM General reached an
agreement in December 1999 in which GM acquired exclusive ownership
of the HUMMER brand name worldwide.
